MANILA — Inatasan ni Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez ang agarang pagbawi ng lahat ng protocol license plates na inisyu sa mga opisyal ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at mga kaakibat nitong ahensya, alinsunod sa layuning maiwasan ang pang-aabuso sa paggamit ng mga espesyal na plaka.

Ayon sa memorandum na inilabas nitong Lunes, Oktubre 13, ipinag-utos ni Lopez ang revocation ng “lahat ng previously issued authorizations to use protocol license plates given to officials of the DOTr Central Office, including its Sectoral and Attached Agencies and Corporations” habang nire-review ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang Joint Administrative Order 2024-001.

“Thus, all concerned officials shall surrender the protocol license plates issued to them, and the LTO shall undertake the necessary coordination and measures to implement this directive,” ayon pa sa dokumento.

Ang hakbang ay kasunod ng direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na higpitan ang paggamit ng mga protocol plates at blinkers, lalo na’t kamakailan ay iniimbestigahan ang paggamit ng isang DOTr undersecretary ng sasakyang may hindi awtorisadong blinker at protocol plate “10”.

Layunin ng kautusan na itaguyod ang transparency at disiplina sa hanay ng mga opisyal ng pamahalaan, lalo na sa sektor ng transportasyon na may direktang ugnayan sa publiko.
